Zojirushi makes the top rice cookers and this is one of them! The Zojirushi NSRNC-18A Automatic Rice Cooker looks very Asian, with the traditional flower prints on the side. It’s just an automatic rice cooker, no programs or anything, but it cooks perfect rice every time.

Zojirushi NSRNC-18A Automatic Rice Cooker and Warmer with Floral Imprint
Very Durable!
I don’t own this rice cooker but my aunt has it. She married an Asian and they eat rice every day for decades. According to her, the Zojirushi NSRNC-18A Automatic Rice Cooker has lasted her more than 10 years! The durability of this rice cooker is not by chance, I’ve read the numerous raving reviews on Amazon and many of the users have owned this rice cooker for a very long time too.
“My mother has been using hers for 20 years.” – Janey Lee
“My family used this rice cooker for 15 yrs.” – E. Tran
“13 years and still cooking rice!” – T. Schulz
Many of them are very happy that this rice cooker has a retractable cord too, which means it’s so convenient to keep one less cord out of the way, and you can bring the whole pot to a party without having to mess with the cord.
Large Rice Cooker
This rice cooker is really big. It holds a 10-cup capacity, which is more than anyone need, but it can cook 2 cups perfectly too. Of course, if you don’t ever need such a big rice cooker, get a smaller model, but for a medium to large size family, this is just perfect, with room for more.
Get the Zojirushi NSRNC-18A Automatic Rice Cooker and Warmer now while it has the best price with free shipping. It’s definitely a best buy for such a durable rice cooker!

Panasonic has been doing well in the market alongside Zojirushi and Sanyo, but with a different approach to rice cookers. They like to keep it simple and no-frills, and charge you less for it. This Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker is one of their best advanced models.

Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker, White
The Good
1) This rice cooker has many modes: normal white rice, quick white rice, brown rice, sticky rice, rice porridge, steam, cake and slow cook. But if you’re the kind who cooks more variations, you’ll probably have to find the best match for your favorite type of rice.
2) The rice cooking is good, but add slightly more water than the suggested amount if you’re only cooking 2 cups, because somehow cooking less will make the rice drier, and this happens with many big size rice cookers.
3) The steam tray works well and is easy to clean. It automatically sets the time to 10 minutes when you press “steam” and you can adjust it to more or less time if you need. But for most veggies and fish, 10 minutes is perfect.
4) It’s nice to be able to ‘bake’ a cake in a rice cooker if you don’t have any other options, but the cake is more like a steamed cake instead of a bake one with golden crust. Tastes just as good though.
5) The Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker remembers your last setting for slow cook, cake and steam, nice for routined cooking.
The Bad
1) The quick mode isn’t very good. The rice comes out undercooked unless you let it sit for a while more in keep warm mode, which defeats the purpose of quick mode entirely.
2) The slow cooker only has no heat setting so it only cooks on high heat. You can still slow cook with this if you think the temperature is right for your recipe, but it provides no flexibility for recipes calling for low heat.
I think the Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker is a good rice cooker for a big family. Click the link to read more reviews for this rice cooker so you will know whether it’s right for you.
Maybe the Panasonic SR-NA18 10-Cup Rice Cooker or the Panasonic SR-TEL18 10-Cup Rice Cooker are better Panasonic rice cookers, but I’d highly recommend getting the best big rice cooker – Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10-cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker which is only slightly higher priced.

This is a great rice cooker with slow cooking function! The Sanyo ECJ-HC55S is a rice cooker and slow cooker in one advanced, computerized machine. And it is so easy to use too!

Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5.5-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker, White
The Sanyo ECJ-HC55S is a 5.5-cup rice cooker that comes with two inner pots, one that is non stick for rice cooking, and one for slow cooking. Everything can be programmed or cooked manually as you like, and the timer works great!
What I like about the timer of this rice cooker is that you can preset the rice cooking time to have the rice cooked at a certain time of the day, for example if you come back from work at 7PM, just enter that time and the rice will be ready at precisely that time. But even if you don’t get back in time, the rice will be kept warm and waiting for you.
The rice comes out perfect each time too, not too wet or too dry, and not clumpy. There’s a steamer you can use to steam your favorite dish along with the rice cooking, and this is perfect for Asian dishes like steamed fish, veggies, tofu and eggs. But of course, the steamer size has it’s limitations.
Great Slow Cook Options
If anyone likes to slow-cook steel cut oats, this works great! The oatmeal comes out really beautifully, never with any disappointments.
This rice cooker can take up quite a bit of the counter space though. But it works so well and it even has a retractable cord. If you think 5.5 cups is small for you, the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S is a similar model at 10-cup size.
Definitely get the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5-1/2-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker if you think a medium size rice cooker with slow cooking function is for you. The price is affordable and Amazon offers free shipping with the best price!

The impression I always get with Aroma rice cookers is that they are very basic and easy to use. This one, the Aroma Cool-Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer is a 6-cup automatic rice cooker with a steamer.

Aroma Cool-Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer
What’s nice about it is that it is very simple. No bells and whistles, no programs or whatsoever, just measure the rice and water, switch it on and cook. After about 20 minutes for 2 cups of rice, or 30 minutes for brown rice, you get perfectly cooked rice. And you can steam a dish on the plastic steamer at the same time!
I think this rice cooker is great for making one-dish rice meals, or even making sushi rice. It can make up to 12 cups of cooked rice so you have room for guests and special occasions.
Aroma Cool-Touch Rice Cooker – To Buy or Not to Buy?
The rice cooker goes into keep warm mode after cooking so you can have warm rice when you come back from work. There are a couple of complaints with this automatic switch though – the reviewers said the switch with their rice cooker was faulty and jumped into keep warm mode before the rice was cooked.
Also, a few users said that when trying to cook more cups of rice, the rice cooker would spew starchy water. This could be a fault with the water reservoir that is supposed to contain the water. But Amazon has a good return policy so the rice cooker can be sent back.
Overall, this rice cooker is basic and affordable. Aroma Cool-Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer costs around $30 which is a good price for a 6-cup rice cooker that gives you the flexibility of cooking more or less rice. Ships for free at Amazon too.

This classic zojirushi 6-cup basic rice cooker model is the one to get if you are looking for a quality, affordable and long lasting rice cooker. It’s a on/off basic rice cooker without any extra feature, the good thing is .. it’s easy to use and the bad thing is you can’t program the timer. The set come with a removable steaming tray, nonstick cooking pan, measuring cup, and spatula – the removable parts make this steamer easy to clean, and a removable cord makes it easy to store.

Panasonic SR-TMB10 – Good Points
- Make tasty white rice and brown rice. Cook brown rice reasonable quickly and fluffier compare to on/off rice.

- Didn’t burn rice even though with low water sometime.
- Extra feature such as soup, porridge(white rice steamer) and slow cooker setting

Bad
- The rice cooker time will only cook 13 hours in advance and will only keep rice warm for 12 hours. For me, this is good enough but some people might need 18 hours in advance.
